Bentley Bentayga Review

The market for SUV-style vehicles has exploded in recent years, as more and more people abandon impractical saloons for the extra storage and versatility that the boxier body shape offers. Now, there’s barely a manufacturer without a number of different offerings, and that is now extending to the luxury manufacturers, with Rolls Royce, Maserati and Lamborghini all announcing SUV models alongside this, Bentley’s offering.

It may seem a strange choice for these manufacturers, for whom either insane speed or intense luxury has been the watchword, but when you see the impact that the Cayenne had on Porsche sales, it’s perhaps not surprising.

That brings us to our Bentayga, which I have to say has had something of a marmite reaction in terms of it’s looks. We’re broadly split 50/50 as to whether it’s a wardrobe on wheels, or a thing of beauty that will only age with dignity (much as it’s smaller stablemate the GT Continental has).

Given this is Bentley (and not to mention the cost) it’s no surprise that this model achieves everything it set out to – immensely practical, an interior luxury suitable of the finest in limousines, and quicker than any reasonable person really needs it to be, whilst also maintaining a wafty sense of absolute comfort.
