Le Mans is too fast & Narrow for F1, but it could be fun

Alonso has said that the current Le Mans circuit is too fast and too narrow for current F1 cars.

Alonso recently did a demonstration in the Alpine F1 car before the Belgium Grand Prix and said that the experience was very special and that the circuit would need some safety alterations should F1 drive there.  He did say that the long straights of Le Mans were a bit unusual for the car’s tires and the cars themselves.

Alonso believes that it would not take much to adjust the cars so that they were suitable for the circuit and that a 3-minute lap COULD be possible on the track.  However, at that speed safety measures would need to be put in place.

Alonso has recently extended his contract with Alpine until the end of the 2022 season.

The last time the F1 Grand Prix was held at Le Mans was in 1967 when it was won by Jack Brabham.
