Part two – What to carry with you in your car

Following on from my last post, continued below is my list of essential items to keep in your car.

Jump leads – If your car won’t start, it may be that you have a dead battery and you just need to be jump started. There may be other cars around but if no one has a set of jump leads then there is not a lot you can do. These are quite cheap and can save an expensive call out of a recovery truck.

Spare bulb kit – If you are driving at night and suddenly one of your headlights goes out this can be extremely scary and dangerous. You can be stopped by the police and get points on your license. When driving in France it is actually illegal to not carry spare blubs in your car with you at all times.

Spare money – You do not want to be keeping bundles of cash in your car, but keeping ten to twenty pounds plus a bit of spare change is advised. If you have no other cash on you and are miles away from a cash machine it may really come in handy, plus often we all forget to take change with us for the parking meter.
